Meet Me

Hello Word Press and hello Blogosphere! I’m thrilled that I’m finally here and focusing on what I really love about blogging—talking books and the reading life! Today, Bookish and Awesome is live.

Some of you know my origin story: I was Whims and Ramblings from Tumblr. But I want to introduce myself the old school way. And by that I mean literally. The classroom set up. Ha!

(Because, you know, I’m awkward like that.)

Here are 13 Reasons Why, er, Little Things to Know About Me:

1. Once upon a time, I didn’t like young adult fiction thought I didn’t like young adult fiction. (I know, I know.)

2. I have a self-diagnosed OCPD. (Yeah, OCD is another candy.)
3. I am not a rereader.
4. I call my phone Scout and my instant camera Alexandre. (One of my best friends thinks it’s pointless.)
5. Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters was what led me to dive into the PJO/HOO books. I’m forever grateful.
6. When I was, I think maybe seven or eight, I got bitten by a dog in the left forearm.
7. I have a love-hate relationship with A Song of Ice and Fire.
8. I fell completely, irrevocably in love with Ruby Sparks. I repeatedly watched a certain scene several times a day, everyday, for one whole week. And did I mention, too, that I cannot shut up about it?

9. I’m a sucker for cream.
10. Also, ketchup. It’s my Magic Instant Food Enhancer.*

11. I write daily fake tattoos (a quirk I got from E. Lockhart’s We Were Liars).
12. In college, I was the only guy in class who admittedly loves Taylor Swift.

13. I wanted to like The Catcher in the Rye more than I actually did.

There. I hope we could build a talky, chaotic—in the most positive way—community here. And let’s discuss books! Lots of books.

*I would use a Loki-gorging-on-ketchup gif if I could find one, but, alas, the internet is not a wish-granting factory.

Now it’s your turn. I want to meet you. Hit that comment box below!

  1. OHAI THERE NICE TO MEET YOU!!! Eep yeay crazy excited for your new blog, Miel!! :DDDD I’m so not a rereader too and I love naming my stuff after Greek mythology names. My DSLR is Thalia, my wifi is Orion and my hard drive is Pandora. Everyone else I know thinks this is very weird.

    1. Heey Hazel. Thank you for your help! 🙂

Gods. Your stuff-naming is AMAZEBALLS! Srsly. Thalia, Orion and Pandora? I think I’m in love with Pandora already! And oh. Let them think of us as weirdos. We’re awesome that way. 😉

  2. Are you sure we’re not long lost siblings? I’m pretty sure we’re long lost siblings.

I’ve probably mentioned this before, but I’ve named all my electronics, too. And my brother’s. My desktop is Shelly, my laptop is Lulu, my iPod is Piper (because of the constant notifications? I think I’m hilarious. 😉 ), my (sadly deceased) Kindle was Katy, my tablet is Isabel, and my camera is Click. My brother’s laptop is Henry, his tablet is Alan (for Alan Turing), and his iPod is Christopher (for Alan Turing’s machine).

    1. Aah… I THINK WE ARE! *Fist-bumps.*

Yes, you’ve mentioned yours before (RIP Katy) but I don’t think I’ve learnt about your brother’s too. And, darn it, I’m fond of Henry and Christopher already! Thanks for dropping by Kate! 🙂

  3. OMG. ALL THE LOKI GIFS. *grabby hands* I’m a huge Marvel movie fangirl. And let me convince you, loving ASOIAF is the best thing ever. You will weep and reread and binge-watch the TV series and weep more and wait for the next book to be out. It’s a great life. *reaches for tissues and chocolate*

I’m Alyssa, you know where my blog is, and I’m absolutely jazzed to meet another book-lover. Just wondering — do you write, or are you only a reader? I’m both, so just curious 😀

    1. Oh but I’m a fan of ASOIAF! In both media (although I’ve only finished A Storm of Swords; THAT EPILOGUE!). Sansa, Tyrion, Bran and Margery are my favorites. Oh, and also Cersei. But with the pov voice, I think Catelyn’s is my favorite of all.

Nice to meet you Alyssa! 🙂 I also write. But it’s far from being a decent draft. Yet.
